New Developments In Syracuse Standoff

The town of Syracuse is getting back to normal after a man held up the pharmacy there for almost 5 hours Tuesday night.

Sheriff's deputies say 27 year old Bruce Leazer held up the Town and Country Pharmacy around 3:30 Tuesday.

A state patrol robot was eventually sent in and found Leazer lying face down, he was transported to a local hospital.

Wednesday, business was back to normal.

Bar owner Paul Wallman said when he got to work he was shocked to find out what was going on.

“The surprise around here is how did this ever happen in Syracuse Nebraska we're a small community of 1,800 people.”

The case has been referred to a special prosecutor in Johnson County because of a conflict of interest.  It turns out the pharmacist who was working at the pharmacy is the wife of the Otoe Deputy County Attorney.

Charges are pending.
