This week we're meeting some of the new school teachers here in the capital city who are teaching our kids. Administrators at Schoo Middle School hired 16 new educators and one of them is no stranger to the school. Here's Tuesday, August 18ths "Excellence in Education" report.

Before Garrett Blomstedt graduated from Concordia University earlier this year he volunteered as a student teacher with LPS. During his time he spent 10 weeks here at Schoo Middle School. He left a great impression not only on the students, but also the principal. As a result he's now the new 7th grade resource teacher co–teaching math, science and English.

"He always has a smile on his face. Always seemed to be interacting with kids and we really of course, want to build those relationships; they're important in middle school," says Principal Bill Schlenberg.

"A big focus this year is effort, so having students give 100 percent effort knowing that if they give the effort then they can achieve a lot of things," says Garrett Blomstedt.

Garrett Blomstedt is one of two brand new teachers at Schoo Middle School this year. The principal says he likes their optimism and fresh ideas.
