New Mad Dad’s Family Rec Center

The Havelock neighborhood is home to Lincoln's newest family recreational center…The “mad dads” organization at 56th and Seward streets opened their doors today.

The building was donated by Goodyear to the group last September.  President of Lincoln's Mad Dads Donald Coleman has been with the organization for 18 years and says it will serve as a safe place for those in the community…”we had all this extra room here and we decided we could do more for the community and the children here that don't have anything to do, after school or on weekends, so we decided to make a rec center,” he says.

For now, the center will be open from 2 to 8 on Saturdays, and everyday once fully staffed.  Coleman is expecting 40 to 50 kids to use the center. But he also says they do need more female volunteers.
