New trial set for Joshua Keadle

A new trial date has been set for a man suspected of raping a Peru State College student. Nemaha County Attorney Louie Ligouri says the judge rescheduled the trial for June 7 after considering motions Wednesday related to evidences and witnesses in the case against 29-year-old Joshua Keadle, a suspended student originally from Swansea, S.C.

The trial had been set for next month. Keadle has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, false imprisonment and terroristic threats in the alleged assault of the student on Halloween. The charges were filed after his arrest in the disappearance of Tyler “Ty'' Thomas, who was last seen leaving an off-campus party on Dec. 3.

Ligouri says Keadle is the only suspect or person of interest in the case but formal charges aren't expected soon.
