NU baseball drops game one to Baylor

Logan Verrett held Nebraska to four singles and one run in eight innings and Landis Ware hit a three-run double in the fifth inning to lead Baylor to a 6-2 victory over Nebraska on Friday night.

Verrett (5-4) struck out eight, walked two and hit a batter for the Bears (23-20, 8-11), who are trying to win their first series in Lincoln since 1997. Jake Miller's RBI single and Steve DalPorto's sacrifice bunt, which scored Ware, broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning.

Freshman left-hander Logan Ehlers (1-2) allowed five runs on six hits in four innings in his first home start for the Cornhuskers (26-17, 5-10). Max Garner pitched the ninth for the Bears, giving up a run on a wild pitch.
