NU Baseball Player Arrested
An all-American Husker baseball player is jailed overnight.. Charged with assault and failure to comply with a police order. Senior 1st-baseman Matt Hopper was arrested for an incident outside a downtown bar early Sunday morning. Witnesses say Hopper had exchanged words with a group of men inside Iguana's Bar. A few minutes later officers witnessed the 6-foot 4-inch 240-pound Hopper fighting near 14th and O-Street with another man. Two officers tried to break up the fight.. But were unsuccessful.. Eventually they used pepper-spray on Hopper to get him to stop fighting. He was arrested for assault and later charged with not complying with an official police order. Hopper was a 3rd-time all American last season.. Two years ago he was named the Big 12's freshmen of the year.
