NU Baseball Team Extends Win-Streak to 10

Lincoln–Husker freshman and Lincoln Southeast product Alex Gordon hit his first collegiate homerun and went 2-3 to help lead the Nebraska baseball team to a 5-3 win over Western Illinois on Wednesay at Haymarket Park. 

Senior Matt Hopper, in the lineup as the designated hitter, hit his team-leading 10th homerun of the season to put the Huskers up 2-0 after 1 inning.  Senior pitcher Justin Pekarek made his first start in 2 years and looked solid, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and striking out 3 en route to his first career victory.

Nebraska has now won a season-best 10-straigth games and will return to Big 12 play this weekend with a 3-game series at Kansas.  The Huskers lead the Big 12 conference with a 7-2 record.
