NU Volleyball Empasizes Big XII Play
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ National titles and deep runs in the NCAA
tournament have always been the measure of Nebraska's volleyball
success. Conference championships were just something the
Cornhuskers won along the way.
But coming off an uncharacteristic third-place finish in the Big
12 in 2009, coach John Cook is making league play a priority.
Cook said at the team's Media Day on Wednesday that his program
took conference titles for granted a lot of years. Before last
season, the Huskers had won or shared five straight Big 12 titles
and 11 of the last 14.
Texas and Iowa State finished ahead of Nebraska last year. The
Huskers knocked off the Cyclones in the regional semifinals. But
the Longhorns have beaten the Huskers four straight times,
including last year's regional finals.
