O Street closure begins

O Street will be shut down from 17th to 21st beginning Monday.
During resurfacing of this major thoroughfare, traffic will detour through P and Q streets. Work will include the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of 19th and O streets.
Barring unforeseen delays, the contractor will have 85 days to complete the work and open O Street by July 10 near the Antelope Valley area.
During construction:
* Eastbound travelers will go north on 17th (one way) east to P (one way) and then south on 21st back to O Street.
* Westbound travelers will go north on 21st, west on Q Street (one way) and south on 16th back to O Street.
Businesses along O Street will remain open, and a chain-link fence will separate pedestrians from construction.
