Off-duty officers involved in fatal South Omaha restaurant shooting

Authorities are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting at a south Omaha restaurant. In a news release, police say two off-duty, uniformed officers were working security at the Guaca Maya Mexican Restaurant early Monday morning.

After a 911 call from the restaurant a little after 1 a.m., other officers were sent to help handle a disturbance. Shortly after that call, dispatchers got a call in which someone said an officer on the scene was calling for aid.

The release says at least one of the officers fired his or her duty weapon. The man who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene. Other details, including names of those involved and what led to the shooting, have not been released.
