Officials Stress Safety for Fourth of July

There are many places to watch fireworks this Fourth of July. But many of you will be buying some of your own. They went on sale here in the Capital City Wednesday.

But safety officials have some tips to offer. Staying between twenty and thirty feet away from fireworks is recommended. Instead of lighting them with a lighter or match you should use a punk or long match to prevent serious injuries.

If you're caught shooting fireworks after midnight on Thursday, you maybe subject to a fine. Firework tents are only open Wednesday and Thursday until around midnight. Remember, the only fireworks that are legal in Lincoln are the ones you buy within city limits.
