Nebraska fugitive caught after 15 years
A man who disappeared for 15 years after being convicted of sexual assault in Omaha has been arrested in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
U.S. Marshals found Francisco Martinez on Wednesday night living with his wife under a fake name. A jury convicted Martinez of raping and threatening a woman in north Omaha back in 1996. The woman managed to escape after the violent attack and ran to a nearby house.
A judge set an early bond after Martinez's conviction, but Martinez took off to Mexico. U.S. Marshals say his mistake was returning to the states after a year and moving to Green Bay, where he and his wife own a day care center. Martinez will be returned to Nebraska to face punishment.
