UPDATE: Omaha Police respond to multiple shootings

OMAHA, Neb. (AP)

Two people have been killed and four others have been injured in a string of gun violence that erupted in northeast Omaha.

18-year-old James Star and 17-year-old Brandon Phelps were fatally shot in in a vehicle outside an apartment building around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Their deaths mark the city’s seventh double homicide this year and the second this week.

After the most recent double homicide, four others were shot at separate locations in northeast Omaha.

A man in his 20s was shot and left lying outside a local hospital around 8 p.m. near Willis and Florence Boulevard.

Another man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the leg and arm around 9 p.m. near 29th and Parker.

Later, two others were shot together and taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Omaha police have been responding to two shooting since around 8 p.m. tonight. 

The first happened near Willis and Florence Boulevard around 8 p.m. Officers told reporters on scene that a man was shot outside a house. The victim got a ride by private vehicle to CHI Creighton University Medical Center for treatment. No word on his condition at this time. 

Omaha police responded to another shooting at 29th and Parker around 9 p.m. tonight.
