Police say one person is dead after a head on crash in north Lincoln.

It happened on State Fair Park Drive under the 27th street overpass, near Cornhusker Highway around 5:30.

Three vehicles were involved, a pickup, a dump truck and a car. Witnesses say the driver of the pickup was speeding around the curve and crashed head on into the dump truck.  The driver of the pickup was killed.

We spoke with one woman who told us her brother in law was driving a dump truck just ahead of the one involved in the crash.

“The pickup truck was going around the corner about 80 miles an hour, hit the dump truck, spun off the dump truck turned around hit the Mercedes car, but the truck on impact pushed the dump truck back about 300 yards, or feet I mean," she said.

Witnesses say a 10 year old boy was in the pickup may have a concussion, but will recover. They say family members of the victim who were on scene told them the boy was on the phone with someone just before the crash and had asked the driver to slow down.

The driver of the dump truck is okay and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. The driver of the car, who witnesses say was hit with debris or possibly the truck, had minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Roads were closed for several hours as police investigated.
