One in custody after fight near 13th and “D”

Lincoln, NE – Lincoln police are investigating what may have caused a fight near 13th and “D” streets early Thursday morning.

Sergeant Tarrence Vernon from the Lincoln Police Department says at around 4 a.m. neighbors called police because they thought they heard 6-7 gunshots being fired. Police couldn't find any evidence of that happening.

They did find evidence of a fight, however, including a broken golf club. Two men were running away when they arrived and they found a third hiding in an nearby alley.

All three parties were detained but two were released. The third was arrested for an unrelated warrant.

Police don't yet know what started the fight.
