OPPD Still Working To Restore Power After Hurricane Force Winds

Omaha Public Power District officials estimated that it will cost about $10 million to repair all the damage to the power system caused by last Friday's strong winds.

After the storm struck, about 126,000 OPPD customers in and around Omaha lost power. Crews have been working long hours since then to restore power, but some people may not regain electricity until Saturday.

The utility says about 21,205 customers remained without power Monday as of 2 p.m. afternoon.   OPPD President Gary Gates says there is still a substantial amount of work to complete.
