Outpouring of support for LPD officer paralyzed by pool accident

The Lincoln Police Department came together Saturday to support one of their own.

Last month, Ofc. Jerome Blowers became paralyzed from the chest down after an accident by his pool. To help his family with medical expenses, LPD put together a benefit. At least a thousand people came out to Firefighter Hall tonight for a spaghetti dinner and raffle in support of Blowers.

“It warms my heart, it’s helping me with my rehab,” Blowers said. “With their thoughts and prayers, I know I can make it back to the best health I can be.”

“It’s just very overwhelming, we thank everyone who’s here,” his wife, Jodi, said. “The community has just been awesome.”

“My dad’s my rock and seeing all these people and all the people he’s touched, I can’t even explain it,” daughter Camden said.

Blowers will undergo therapy at Madonna until October. He’ll then have out–patient therapy sessions for an undetermined amount of time.
