Parent Forums to focus on drugs, Internet predators
Two forums will be held to help Lincoln parents learn what drugs teens are using.
There are drugs that parents know about and then there are ones they don't. David Acevedo goes to Lincoln High and says, “parents know very little of drugs. The only thing I think they know is marijuana and K-2 and everything else is flying under the radar.”
K-2 is a mixture of herbs and spices that you can buy legally. Smoking it to get high, though, is illegal.
Drug trends in the Capital City are changing and the Lincoln Council on Alcoholism and Drugs is looking to keep parents informed. Teri Vosicky sits on the council and says, “What are the new trends? It's the K-2, it's the prescription drugs. There are also other things like Internet predators.”
Both forums will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday night.
One of them will be at North Star High School focusing specifically on the dangers of K–2.
The other will be at East High, looking at drug trends and the dangers of Internet predators.
