People Of Emerald Ask Lincoln For Help With Water

Residents of Emerald are wondering if they ever have drinkable water. The Lincoln City Council heard recommendations to try and find an answer. For years the people of Emerald have had to cook the water before they drink it, or drive somewhere else to get it. The problem is nitrates in the water. One solution the council heard involved extending a city water line a third of a mile to Emerald. That would allow emerald to tap into Lincoln's water supply. But, City Council members fear doing this could lead to other towns wanting to do the same. Another solution is to annex Emerald. The problem with that some say is spreading resources like police and fire. A third option is to build their own water well. But, that would cost residents an additional 90 dollars on their bill. The City Council has yet to make a decision.
