Pinnacle Bank Arena to host Sir Paul McCartney this summer

A legend is coming to Lincoln.

“The City of Lincoln, Pinnacle Bank Arena and AEG Live are proud to announce that Sir Paul McCartney will bring his “Out There” to Pinnacle Bank Arena,” Mayor Chris Beutler said.

In 1964, The Beatles invaded the U.S. Now, 50 years later, Paul McCartney is taking over Lincoln.

“Probably by far the biggest star they’ve had over there, definitely worth the ticket price,” Jeremy Thiessen said.

It’s McCartney’s first performance in Lincoln, but he’s not just putting on a show. In honor of his arrival, the street right outside of Pinnacle Bank Arena, Canopy and R Streets, will be temporarily named “Abbey Road”. July 14 will also be known as “Paul McCartney Day” and the mayor will present him with a medallion of the city.

“All these things will feed into the excitement we think will cultivate July 14. I think they do appreciate those things,” Pinnacle Bank Arena general manager Tom Lorenz said.

So far in Pinnacle Bank Arena history, nine concerts sold out, and officials said they believe this one will be no different.

“If I have the money, definitely I’d think about going it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Thiessen said.

Tickets go on sale April 28 at 10 a.m. They range anywhere from about $30 to $250.
