UPDATE: LPS lockout lifted

UPDATE:  Lincoln Public Schools has lifted the lockout for Lefler Middle School and Holmes Elementary School.  Children are being released as normal. The lockout was put into place because of a bank robbery in the area.  We have a reporter on the scene and will have a live report on the Channel 8 Eyewitness News at 5 and 6.

UPDATE:  Lincoln Public Schools have two schools on lockout.  Students at Lefler Middle School and Holmes Elementary School are being held in their school until the lockout is over.  Parents who would like to pick up their children can go to the front door of the school and staff will release the child to them. Normal dismissal will resume once the lockout is lifted.  This is all do to a bank robbery near 48th and Normal Streets.  Lincoln Police are still searching for the suspect.  We’ll have more tonight on the Channel 8  Eyewitness News at 5 and 6.

Lincoln Police are investigating a robbery at the Union Bank near 48th and Normal. 

Crews were called to the scene around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, police are still searching for the suspect.

Channel 8 has a reporter on scene and will continue to bring the updates as they become available.
