When a woman is pregnant, it's supposed to be a time filled with joy and happiness. But research shows 80% of mothers experience some sort of depression.
Often times mothers think it's just the baby blues…or that they're having a bad couple of days…but really, it's a mental illness that needs a doctor's attention.
If depression isn't addressed it can snowball into a bigger problem, that could include thoughts of harming yourself or your baby.
Warning signs that a mom is dealing with depression include: feelings of restlessness and irritabilty, excessive crying and eating or sleeping irregularly, which includes too much or not enough.
Doctors recommend that if you even think you might be dealing with pregnancy-related depression, you should contact a mental health professional.
