Preview: Round table discussion on human trafficking

Attorney General Doug Peterson and Congressman Jeff Fortenberry will be co-hosting a round table discussion on human trafficking at Nebraska’s State Capitol.

They will be focusing on building awareness on human trafficking and discussing current legislation. Some lawmakers say they want to strengthen Nebraska laws against sex trafficking of young girls.

The group will also focus on steps that could be taken to improve Nebraska’s response from the point of view of law enforcement and service providers.

Victims, advocates, law enforcement officials, and lawmakers are expected to attend this discussion. They will also talk about way they can work with federal government to battle human trafficking.

The discussion will be at the state capitol building at 4 p.m.
