Prominent Lincoln Reverend Is Arrested Thursday

Reverend Norman Leach was arrested early Thursday afternoon for sexually assaulting a child. Boy Scouts of America Executive Steven Smith told Channel 8 Eyewitness News that Leach was being investigated by Lincoln Police. Smith said police wanted to find out if any Boy Scouts in one Lincoln troop were sexually abused by Leach. Police would only say that Leach was arrested for third degree sexual assault of a child. Smith says he's shocked by the allegations.

Leach is well known in the local religious circle. He was the Executive Director of the Interfaith Council. He resigned from that post on February 27th. The Interfaith Council sponsored the Boy Scout troop in question. The Boy Scout Organization will hold an informational meeting for all scout parents March 26th at Bryan LGH East.
