Rescued Cats Now Up For Adoption
Last week Animal Control made the largest discovery of cats living under one roof. Neighbors near 40th and Pioneers called in to complain about a strong odor. Officials found 145 cats in a small room in the basement of the home. Only a handful had to be euthanized because of health problems. The rest, are now ready for adoption.
Some of the cats got lucky and went home with their new owners Friday. It was the first day of the Adopt-A-Thon at the Capitol Humane Society. The feline's were busy all day meeting potential families. 100 were available Friday and about 22 cats were adopted.
The cat adoptions continue Saturday at the Humane Society from 8:30-am to 2:30-pm and on Sunday from noon to five.
We should mention, Rickie Meyer, the owner of the cats was ticketed on suspicion of unsanitary conditions.
