Residential and retail proposed for UNL parking garage
Posted by: Newsroom
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is looking for a developer to add residential and possible retail to a proposed parking garage at 18th & R.
The request seeks proposals that would include UNL parking on the bottom of the building and private residences on top. UNL vice chancellor for Business and Finance, Christine Jackson, says they believe there is a market for private housing near campus that would help fund UNL programs.
The developer would also be responsible for assessing the appropriate housing market for the building. The residences will not be university-approved student housing.
Developers can view the RFP at http://procurement.unl.edu/bid-opportunities. The accepted bid would go before the Board of Regents for approval at the September board meeting. The proposal for the parking garage has already been approved.
