Residents In Central Nebraska Will Have To Foot The Bill For Damage After May’s Floods
Federal aid is available for some in Nebraska communities hit by last month's storms. The government will help pay for 'public' property, but many families will have to foot the bill for damage to private property. Fema denied the state's request to help private individuals pay for the long list of damages to their homes. Fema did give the state federal funds to help repair some of the roads, bridges and public buildings, but for the families whose homes were nearly destroyed, they are left to foot the bill. Even though home owners won't see federal funding..the Governor's Office is looking to provide some state assistance to help with the cost.
