Today, the westbound lanes of Capitol Pkwy from 27th to Randolph will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The street closure is part of an ongoing repair project to the Billy Wolff Trail which was first developed in 1979. Renovations will continue this spring.

The Parks and Recreation Department will remove 25 trees on the north side of Capitol Pkwy that have caused parts of the trail to lift. More trees will be planted after construction is complete, and the new trees that were added last year will not be affected.

The Billy Wolff Trail will be widened to 10 ft. Cracks and separated concrete will also be repaired to improve the area, and finally the ramp on the west side of 27th St. leading up from the underpass will be replaced.

The project is being funded by a recreational trail grant and donations.

There’s an alternate route north on 27th St. and west on Randolph.
