Two people are in critical condition tonight after a car accident just outside of Raymond.
It happened at the intersection of Highway 79 and West Raymond Road just before 6:00 PM Monday night.
Officials say it's too early to tell if seatbelts or alcohol were factors, however people who live and work in the area say it's a dangerous intersection.
Joe Lukas works at Toni's Corner near the intersection. “I was talking to some customers and they told me to look out the window. I looked out the window and there was a truck upside down.”
Sergeant Tom Brookhouser is with the Lancaster County Sherriff's office and says, “It appears the pick-up that was westbound failed to yield to the southbound vehicle. There was a collision in the intersection here.”
The pick-up driver was airlifted to Bryan West, and the passenger taken there by ambulance.
The passenger in the other vehicle, an 18-year-old girl, had some minor scrapes from her airbag.
This intersection is pretty dangerous and isn't the first accident to happen there.
Now blood stained pavement is what's left and items from the cars are strewn about.
People in the area wonder how the intersection could be safer.
Says Lukas, “I don't know if it would be best to a put a light in. I don't know.”
The twp people in the pickup are in critical yet stable condition.
The scene is still under investigation.
