Royals win in 12th inning stunner

Champagne showers drenched the Kansas City Royals locker room late Tuesday night after a dramatic comeback victory.

Christian Colon and Salvador Perez hit RBI singles in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Kansas City Royals to a 9-8 victory over the Oakland Athletics in the American League Wild Card game.

It was a great night for the team, but not for Alex Gordon in their 12th inning comeback win. The former Husker and Lincoln Southeast High School grad struck out twice, walked once, and grounded out.

The A’s had an 8-7 lead until Eric Hosmer tripled and scored on Colon’s high chopper down the third-base line.

The A’s wasted a nice game by Brandon Moss, who hit a two-run homer and a three-run blast while Oakland was building a 7-3 lead.

Kansas City, appearing in its first playoff game in 29 years, now advance to play the Angels in the AL Division Series starting Thursday.
