Towns in Saline County are cleaning up after straight lines winds struck their community.

For one family it’s a sense of déjà vu.

The Vales’ spent all of Monday cleaning up debris.

“There was trees broke everywhere and most of the buildings were gone,” says Mike Vales.

In total, they lost eight structures, including a cattle barn, they’d built about ten years ago, after it was destroyed by the Hallam tornado storm.

Vales says, “That wasn’t near as bad as this.  I think we just kind of got sideswiped by that one, that was mostly house damage.”

This time, the house was the one thing safe with minimal roof damage.

Another relief, all the livestock is accounted for.

About ten minutes away in Swanton, folks are also cleaning up.

The village was without power overnight.

Leaders say all day long everyone gave a helping hand, including about 50 people at the Vales’ place.
