Sally Gordon named outstanding oldest worker
One of America's outstanding oldest workers for 2010 lives in Lincoln and she was honored at the State Capitol for her accomplishments.
101-year-old Lincoln resident Sally Gordon was recognized by Governor Dave Heineman, other dignitaries and Experience Works as one of America's Outstanding Oldest Workers for 2010.
Ms. Gordon was the first female assistant sergeant-at-arms for the State of Nebraska – and has served members of the legislature for the past 26 years.
With an employment history that spans 84 years, Ms. Gordon has worked for three of Nebraska's governors and several other government agencies. Her experience also includes court reporting, advertising, retail work and professional modeling – a career she began at age 56.
Experience Works is the nation's largest nonprofit training and employment organization for older workers. The organization administers the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) in Nebraska, 29 other states and Puerto Rico.
