Saltdogs Looking For New Manager
Lincoln–The Lincoln Saltdogs will have a new manger when they take the diamond next Spring. On Tuesday, the Northern League Organization announced that Les Lancaster will not return to manage the team in 2003.
“The organization decided with Les that there is a difference in philosophy in managing style needed to lead the team and we've decided to go in seperate directions,” said Saltdogs General Manager Tim Utrup. “We've met with Les and both thought it would be best in the long run for Les and the organization to go our seperate ways.”
“I don't know exactly what all went on and what took place,” said Saltdogs outfielder Bryan Warner. “But obviously our ownership and management made a decision and we're gonna have to stand beside that decision with them. I don't think it's a bad thing to make a change and get us going in a different direction.”
Utrup says the Saltdogs will begin an immediate search for Lancaster's replacement and hope to be able to announce their new manager within the next 30 to 60 days.
