Sanford Kaplan Appears In Court
A former Lincoln soccer coach was in court Thursday facing some serious charges.
57-year-old Sanford Kaplan is accused of tying up teenage boys, hanging them from the rafters of his garage and sexually assualting them.
Investigators think it's been going on for several years.
Sanford Kaplan or coach Kaplan as he's known around town, appeared with a court appointed lawayer Thursday.
Thursday Kaplan declined to issue a statement about the charges, however in court documents, he did admit to many of the charges against him.
We spoke with a former student of his, this person told us Kaplan was usually an upbeat and cheerful professor.
The last time they saw Kaplan was on the 6th in class, which was a finals day.
It was also when Sheriff's officials searched his property.
This person described Kaplan that day as meloncoly and a bit down.
Sheriff Terry Wagner says this case is very disturbing.
Sanford Kaplan's preliminary court date is set for July second.
All 14 charges are class 3 A felonies.
Each punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison and or a $10,000 fine.
