SCC to expand
Southeast Community College in Lincoln announced that a local construction company will begin a huge expansion on the school this spring.
The school is overcrowded. Stu Osterthun works in the school's marketing department and says,”SCC's Lincoln campus has really been more than 90% utilized from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and we are just out of room in terms of holding classes.”
For just under $8 million, SCC Lincoln will add 65,000 square feet to help students study. That's 16 new classrooms, a one–stop student services center and computer lab, and nearly 400 new parking spots. SCC student Amanda Wusk says, “It makes people feel more comfortable because they have more offered to them for their program and for what they're getting into.”
Osterthun says, “Southeast Community College continues to be very affordable, yet we still understand it's a stretch for some students Southeast remains the most affordable education option in the state of Nebraska.”
