School Board Announces Cuts
The Lincoln Board of Education met Tuesday night. They are facing having to educate more students with fewer teachers to deal with huge state-mandated budget-cuts. The bottom line is that a social-worker and an audiologist will get pink slips – a reduction of one and a half positions. However, about 60 teachers who are retiring, resigning, or the like won't be replaced, and that despite about 300 more students coming into the system in the next school-year. Also, in the next school year, about 200 other L.P.S. positions could be changed or moved.
