When you see people rocking out in a Fourth of July parade, you can almost guarantee it'll be a good day.

Not that celebrating independence in style is a new thing for the residents of Seward, Nebraska. With everything from hot rides to cute kids, they know how to make Uncle Sam proud.

“We loved the parade, the loved the games and activities. My husband and his friend really loved the car show. They said that there are cool cars out there, so it really has been a lot of fun,” said Lor Hansmeyer of Firth.

Speaking of fun, there was plenty to go round and round at the carnival area. For the little ones, it was a chance to really show their stuff and win some prizes. For others, getting out to Seward reminds them of why it's important to celebrate Independence Day.

“We should celebrate it like we do with Christmas. It's a patriotic holiday, the patriotic holiday,” said Rick Sheldon of Milford.

Despite the heat and the fact that the Fourth falls in the middle of the week, many would agree, the holiday has a way of bringing people together. For some, that's what this country is all about.

“You know it was worth the heat out there today and we had a great time. We hope that everyone had a happy Fourth of July.”
