Seward Says Yes To Wal-Mart Supercenter

Wal-Mart will play a larger roll in Seward. For several months now, the City Council has been debating over plans to allow Wal-Mrt to build a Supercenter. The latest hurdle has been over what the new store would look like; city officials wanted the new store to have a mostly brick exterior to blend in with the city's current architecture.

At Tuesday night's City Council meeting, the change they wanted is what the council got. Wal-mart came back with a new plan for their store that includes brick. That lead to a unanimous vote by the council to give the new Supercenter the green light.

Wal-Mart will now begin accepting construction bids for the new Supercenter. Site preparation is expected to begin August first. Once construction starts, the Supercenter should open just eight months after that.
