Seward Wal-Mart Approved
Monday night, the Seward City Council gave the Wal-Mart Supercenter the green light to move into town. The Council had already approved the zoning plans for the new Wal-Mart. MOnday night, they approved the preliminary plat, or area, and the special use permit for the Supercenter. Not everyone is happy about having a Wal-Mart Supercenter in town. Many residents say it will draw money away from Seward businesses and visitors away from historic downtown. Some Council members agree and specifically asked Wal-Mart be designed to blend in with the architectural style of the city. The new Supercenter will be built just south of Seward along Highway 15. It will replace the old Wal-Mart building.
