Sheriff’s Association files lawsuit for state fair buildings

In the wake of the first state fair in Grand Island, the Nebraska Sheriff's Association wants compensation for buildings it claims to own at the old state fair grounds in Lincoln.

The group filed a lawsuit Monday saying it was forced out of its facilities when the legislature approved the fair's move to Grand Island.

Now, the University of Nebraska plans to tear those buildings down for Innovation Campus.

The Sheriff's Association says it still owns those buildings and should be compensated. They're asking for $500,000.
