Small alligator found in Omaha backyard
The Nebraska Humane Society says a small alligator has been found roaming through a backyard in southeast Omaha.
The society says the alligator was found Tuesday morning and has been taken to the society for safekeeping.
It'll be going to the Henry Doorly Zoo for an examination. The alligator is small enough to be held with one hand. The society says it's likely the reptile is someone's escaped pet or one that got too big to handle and was let loose.
The society also says alligators are illegal to possess in Omaha.
