Smokey Haze in Lincoln Blamed on Oklahoma Fire
If you noticed a smokey haze over the Capital City and surrounding communities Thursday morning, you weren't alone. It turns out the smoke wasn't from a fire around here, but came from a blaze hundreds of miles away.
The smokey haze we saw Thursday actually came from an oil tank fire in Oklahoma. While health officials say the air should be fine now, Thursday morning they were advising Lincolnites to stay inside. The fire happened at a Conoco-Phillips oil refinery on Monday. A company spokesman says the smoke is non-toxic, but Nebraska health officials warned Lincolnites not to exercise outside Thursday morning.
