It's just a matter of ordering and installing signs. Mayor Chris Beutler has approved the new rule.
The new measure passed last week by the Parks and Recreation Board will set aside smoke-free areas in parks.. such as playgrounds, skate parks, picnic shelters, swimming pools, and ball fields.
The new signs will designate these smoke-free areas. Trails, green spaces, dog runs, and 18-hole golf courses will be exempt from the new rule.. for now.
The smoking ban will have to wait until fall after the city purchases and installs signs.
