Smoking Ban Passes
After months of debate, and many amendments, the Lincoln City Council passes a smoking ban for the Capitol City by a 5-2 vote. The ordinance takes affect in six months. Bars earning less then 60% of their profit from food will be exempt, meaning you can smoke. But bars that make more than 60% of their profits from food can't allow smoking. They will need to create special smoking rooms that provide a completely contained space and ventilation. Restaurants also must create a smoking room. As far as workplaces, they can apply for an exception to the ordinance. Tobacco shops are also exempt under the new smoking ban, and hotels would still be allowed to offer smoking rooms.
