More Nebraska National Guardsmen are being called up to active duty. The members of the 267th Ordinance Company are expected to leave this week so this afternoon their hometown held a send-off for them. Friends and family gathered at North Star High School in Lincoln to say goodbye. Larry Eisenmann is one of the Army National Guard soldiers who will head overseas. He was scheduled to 'retire' this Wednesday, which is the exact day his company will be deployed. Eisenmann said, “My retirement day was December 10th and I felt I owed it to them to stay with them.” The 267th Ordinance Company will head to Fort Riley, Kansas for training and then they will be deployed abroad. The unit is expected to spend one year supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldiers specialize in maintenance support.
