Soldiers Return To Nebraska

Soldiers with the 1-167th Cavalry have spent a year in Iraq fighting combat this was the first Nebraska National Guard Unit deployed for a combat mission since World War Two.

Some of the members of this unit were actually injured while over in Iraq, but luckily, every single one of them came back safe and sound. And that's something these troops say they're extremely grateful for.

They understood just exactly how dangerous their missions would be, but said they took it one day at a time. For all the waiting these friends and families have done over the past year, it seemed like these last few moments before they got off the plane were the most agonizing.

Hundreds showed up to welcome these heros home. Governor Heineman, as well as other state representatives were also on hand to welcome them home.

This particular unit participated in over 1000 combat missions while they were in iraq.
