Some students in Waverly will be heading to school a little later this year.

At the August 8, 2016 board of education meeting, it was decided to postpone the first day of school due to construction related delays at Hamlow Elementary, Waverly High School, and the technology project delays that affect students at Eagle Elementary, Hamlow Elementary, Waverly Middle and High School.

The change will  delay the 2016-17 calendar by three school days:

Monday, August 22 is the first day of school for students in grades 6-12.

Tuesday, August 23 is the first day of school for students in grades K-5.

Superintendent Bill Heimann sent out a press release on Monday apologizing for any inconvenience the three-day delay may cause families.  He pointed ut that the collective efforts of contractors and staff have resulted in upgrades to the safety, security, and technology in our schools.

There are parts of the facility projects that will continue after the school year has started. A revised school calendar will be published very soon.
