Smith to Transfer

Lincoln – Nebraska Coach Connie Yori announced on Tuesday that sophomore guard Chandler Smith has elected to transfer from the Husker women’s basketball program.

“Chandler is a good person and a good player, but has decided that she wants to be closer to home,” Yori said. “While we are disappointed that she will no longer be a member of our program, we understand and support her decision. We wish her nothing but the best in the future.”

As a freshman, the 6-0 guard from Brewster, Wash., missed significant time early in the season with a foot injury, before playing in 18 games with one start. She averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. She was a two-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Before arriving at Nebraska, she was a two-time Washington Class 1A Player of the Year.
