Stadium Expansion Project Gets Record Donation

The Memorial Stadium expansion project is getting a big boost, with the largest single donation ever given to the University of Nebraska Athletic Department. Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson and Chancellor Harvey Perlman announced Wednesday night that Charles and Romona Myers of Omaha and Scottsdale, Arizona have donated five-million-dollars to help fund the new Osborne Athletic Complex. The building's first floor will be named the Myers Performance Center, and it will include the strength complex, the athletic medicine facility and the football team's locker-room.

An Iowa native, Myers founded Superior Industries, a company, worth about 800-million dollars that designed and built refrigerated structures. Steve Pederson said more than 20-million-dollars in private gifts have now been received for the 50-million-dollar stadium expansion project.
