Star City Holiday Parade cancelled

The lack of funding for the Star City Holiday parade has forced  organizers to cancel the event.

The move comes after Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler announced last month that budget cuts forced him to delete city funding for the parade.

GOLincolnGO, the group that organizes the parade, has spent the last month trying to find private donors. But, they say the donors are already stretched thin.

“We also contacted some of our private sectors donors from the past parades and unfortunately with the economy the way it is and with some other events that are going on around town I think a lot of the private sector dollars are spread out throughout the community,” says Katie Tauer, GOLincolnGO Board President.

Tauer says she hopes they will be able to put on a holiday event in the future.
